From a new place

Thursday July 29 2010 was a crazy day. That was the day the moving really started. The truck was rented and it was loaded up. The day was very stressful, but thankfully most of what caused the stress is now a distant memory. I dislike moving with a passion. It's a process that is often full of surprises, and if there is no solid planning, everything takes forever and it's very draining. This moving process was one of those. A very short amount of time, and there was very little prepared. However, it was all done in time, and we were able to deliver the apartment. We did use Friday up, because we were way too tired on Thursday. The plan was to be fully out and have the apartment cleaned on Thursday. That did not happen. There was still too much to do Thursday and not enough time or energy.

The house we moved into was a mess, a filthy, dirty, grimy, moldy mess. It took about a week to clean it up enough to be decent. Every corner and crevice needed to be cleaned. The carpets where vacuumed, and vacuumed again. After we moved in, we used a carpet cleaning machine on all carpets. The water was dark and murky, and some areas require two or more passes. The wood floor had a thick layer of dust, as if it was never cleaned before. The landlord said the house was cleaned and the carpets were professionally cleaned. However, he did say he did it on the cheap. As far as I could see, the cleaning went as such: A person walked in, closed their eyes, wished the housed clean from the bottom of their heart and left. The plan is to change the carpet upstairs. The carpet on my room has stains of many colors. It is as if markers came to life, and pissed all over the carpet. I can count at least 10 different colors on my carpet.

I did use a dry bug fogger on the house to kill all the darling creatures living in it. There were so many spider webs that it seemed like the spiders were preparing for a spooky Halloween party. Thankfully, there are now virtually no spiders or spider webs. I plan on using another dry bug fogger in a few days. There are always little critters that hitch a ride when you are moving. However, everything right now seems well in that regard.

However, the house is nice and big. I now have proper office and all. My sister was afraid the house was going to feel creepy, but it feels surprisingly warm and homey. The dogs seem to like the house. They got a bit confused the first few days, since they were not used to the layout of the house. They do like the yard. We thought they might go near the street, but they have behaved very well, and we can walk around without leashes.

I'll close this entry here for now. Tomorrow is a new day, and there is much to do (like finding a job.) I will say that I am very happy to be in a house now, and the sleep is much more restful. It's so quiet around here.

So, finally, I get a pair of glasses. It was a $29 special, but they do

mighty well for their price.

The diopter is + 0.50 on each side, which is minor, but it helps eye

strain through the day. I am still getting used to them.

For some reason, I had an insatiable desire to see inside a 9V Battery. So I got random metal pokey things, and slowly pried the outer shell open.

Here are the insides on the picture.

Potential new glasses.

I went to the eye doctor Saturday. They said I have +0.50 on each eyes.

I was at Lenscrafters and I liked this Oakley glasses. The whole thing is slighty on the pricey side but I might just gey it.

50/50: fifty bloggers from fifty states in fifty days - Georgia

About a month ago, I was asked by the wonderful people of Purple States to participate in a project. They mentioned they user-generated news website, and wanted me to participate in it, by being the correspondent for Georgia. They wanted me to basically do a vlog about the economy. This was part of a large project that had people from all 50 states, come together, and provide their own view on things. I visited their website, and found this to be a very interesting project. They did have a long sheet of questions, but I was glad to help.

The project was very exciting to do. It was a lot of fun, but boy, could I talk. I had to re-record things, twice. The first time, because I was doing it with my sister helping, and we were talking way too much. The second, because I rambled on to impossible lenghts, and had to try things a bit more concise.

I'm sure the editors had a fun time editing out all my ramblings. *grins*

Still, overall, it was very inspiring. I'm glad to see all the people that came out and participated on the project. I watch videos everyday, and it's captivating, and inspiring.

So, The medicine is still chugging along, but a therapist is the next step

I am slowly trying to master how to wear a bandana.
